Visit by EU Ambassador to Malta, Mr Ronald Gallimore

The EU Ambassador to Malta, Mr Ronald Gallimore, recently paid a visit to Dar il-Kaptan, the Mtarfa respite home for disabled people run by the Foundation for Respite Care Services. The proceeds of the 2002 European Film Festival, which is organised annually by the EU Delegation to Malta, were allocated to Dar il-Kaptan and during his visit, Mr Gallimore presented a cheque to the Foundation.The latter thanked Mr Gallimore and the EU Delegation for choosing Dar il-Kaptan as its beneficiary. The Foundation for Respite Care Services is a non-governmental organisation that offers residential and day respite care to over 200 persons with disability.

While it receives an annual sum from government, finding the finances to cover all the costs involved in running the house and providing an excellent service for its clients is never an easy task for the Foundation. The EU Delegation's donation, therefore, is very valuable since it will help to cover these costs. Mr Gallimore also had the opportunity to have a look at the house and see at first hand how the services offered strive to make Dar il-Kaptan a home from home for its client members.

CAMYouths HELP - Activities in aid of Dar il-Kaptan

"As from Tuesday 15th July till Sunday 20th July 2003, we will be holding the sixth edition of the event, aimed at raising funds for people in need residing in local communities. All will be set up at the CAMYouths premises and surrounding areas in St.Agata, Rabat, Malta."

"This year, along with the now established 7 a-side football tournament, many other activities are being planned in order to raise funds for a project at Dar il-Kaptan respite centre. Apart from raising funds for Dar il-Kaptan in Mtarfa, the aim of the activity is also to promote sport with other youths, inspire them to involve themselves into voluntary work and enable them appreciate the friendly environment that such activities create."
