Residential StaysThis service is meant to offer periodic rest inervals (residential care) to families who are continously caring for a member of their family who has a disability. The period could be from an overnight, a weekend or a full week's residentail stay. In emergencies we try to accomodate the inidivudal and provide for longer stays. |

| One of the major projects Dar il-Kaptan undertook in 2002 was the refurbishment of one of the bathrooms. Choosing such equipment was not an easy task bearing in mind the diversity of needs of our clients. However, as one can see, the bathroom is now fully equipped to meet the needs of clients. The washbasin and the toilet are specifically designed for people with mobility impairments. The bathroom is also equipped with a shower trolley, the first of its kind in Malta. The trolley can be pushed out of the room and taken to the client's bed. The client is then lifted onto the trolley and wheeled back in to the bathroom. The client can be showered without being moved again. The trolley is fitted with a drain to let the water out. This equipment saves a lot of discomfort for clients who find it uncomfortable to be showered on a shower chair. |  |

Day ServicesThis service is provided during the week between 9:00 hours and 14:00 hours. This service is focused on daily living and social skills, leisure and recreational activities. It is offered to client members who for one reason or another do not attend schools or Adult Training Centres and whose parents are reluctant to let them sleep away from home. In-Home RespiteThis Respite Service is provided in the client's home, thus reaching out to members who for different reasons are unable to make use of the residential or day services |

Social Work SupportOur Residential Social Worker provides this service through continous support and assistance to all family members. Through this support the Social Worker identifies the overall needs of the family and acts as liaison between the family, Dar il-Kaptan, other agencies and services. Individual Care PlansA tailor-made and specialised care plan is provided according to the client's individual needs and wishes. Theses are drawn up by the client, his/her family members/carers and our Care Co-ordinators. |
