Our services are offered to any person with disability irrespective of the impairment or condition since the home is fully accessible and staff are trained. The service is highly subsidized and affordable to everyone who requires it. It is the Foundation’s policy to waive part or all the fees to those families who cannot afford the expense. The Foundation is committed to ensure that no family will be denied access to any of its services because of financial constraints. Individual assessments are carried out regularly by the social worker to ensure that all the family’s concerns are addressed.
We mainly offer two services, Residential Respite Service and Day Service.

Referrals are accepted from family members, persons with disability themselves as well as from professionals working with the individual and/or family. Once the referral is received, the social worker is informed who then contacts the client/family to plan an initial meeting to carry out an assessment of the needs. The meeting is held either at Dar il-Kaptan or at the family’s private residence.
The care officer or the social worker, invites the service user to two orientation sessions - one during the day and the other one as an overnight stay, at Dar il-Kaptan. Once it is ascertained that the needs of the client can be met, the professionals involved will decide a way forward.
Fill referral form
Residential respite services are usually offered as a full week stay, starting on Fridays. However, it is possible for clients to use the service for an overnight stay or for the weekend only. Respite periods are organized to accommodate clients in one of six groups, determined and agreed upon during the assessment process. Each group consists of a maximum of 17 clients at a time. In emergency situations, where the family requires the services at short notice, every effort is made to meet that need. Furthermore, arrangements can be made for longer stays depending on availability and once approval is granted.
